About Us

The Joyous Dance’s Mission is to passionately provide exceptional dance education that fosters growth, confidence, creativity and love of dance as an artistic expression. The Joy of movement is universal and accessible to everyone. Our goal is to nurture individuality and the innate creativity alive in every child so that children feel a sense of belonging, empowerment in their bodies and confidence!

This is our FIFTH Season in Martensville and we are so excited for NEW Year, Miss Angela is excited to be back teaching after a year off with her new baby Hayden!

At The Joyous Dance we currently offer classes for children ages 3.5 – 13!  We are excited to expand our ages and genres as our Studio kids grow and are always open to hear what classes you’d like see!  Our objective at TJD is to help your child experience the MANY benefits of involvement in dance and fitness. These benefits are vast and include physical, developmental, artistic, social and psychological. All of these advantages combine to create positive feelings of pride and accomplishment our students will take with them for life! We provide balanced training combining structured knowledge of dance techniques and placement in addition to nurturing your child’s innate sense of creativity and passion for movement.
Our Joyous Dance Instructors enjoy garnering inspiration from many different types of Syllabus including ADAPT and CDTA for Jazz and Tap, RAD for Ballet and more.
We believe in continual training, learning and development in as many different styles as possible and incorporate this learning/inspiration into our instruction.  Inspiration for new ways to move is Everywhere!

Philosophy about Creativity in Joyous Dance Classes
– Note: We at Joyous are PASSIONATE about helping kids explore their own creative potential. Opportunities for developing choreography skills/creativity will continue to be infused into all of our classes. Our goal is to empower children to realize they all have the potential to create, that their ideas are valid and that creativity in balance with technique in movement is FUN!

Angela Achtemichuk, Studio Director

The Joyous Dance

Miss Angela has been Chasseing down grocery stores aisles (her parent’s like to remind her of this) since the age of 5! – She has many years of training in Jazz and Ballet as well as experience in Tap and has developed a passion for many other genres including Latin, Hip Hop, HULA (one of her favorite places is Hawaii), Bollywood and more.

Angela grew up dancing competitively and recreationally with dance schools in Spiritwood, North Battleford and spent most of her dance life at Brenda’s School of Baton and Dance in Saskatoon. Angela has a passion for sharing her love of dance with the Community.  She has performed with several performing groups including Ritmo Latino, Stiletto Vibe Dance Company, Rhythms Dance Studio, Saskatoon Salsa Dance Company, and Dance Ink at many Community events including Folkfest, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Pride Parade, Dance Competitions, Dance Recitals (including The Joyous Dance Recital with Miss Kayla and Kaylee most recently!) and more.

Angela has completed her Junior & Pre-Inter Levels of her ADAPT Jazz and Tap Teacher’s Certificate as well as several ADAPT Jazz Dance Exams! She has through travelled to New York and Long Beach to attend the Dance Teacher Summit Conferences where she has learned from many top choreographer’s/dancers. Angela truly has a passion for continuing to learn herself whether it’s through workshops or performances in Saskatoon or travelling abroad!

Angela’s passion for dance and movement and her love of children shines when she teachers. “I am so blessed to have the opportunity to teach and learn from kids. My hope is that I can help your children reach their greatest potential and have the positive influence that many of my mentors have had on me. Teaching dance and dancing along with becoming a mom have been my two biggest dreams. I’m so lucky to get to do them both!  My husband Greig and I were blessed with our son Hayden on November 15th, 2016. I am excited to get back into the classroom for our FIFTH year and look forward to our best and most rewarding year yet.”

Miss Kayla Krawchuk,  Instructor

The Joyous Dance

This is Miss Kayla’s THIRD year with the Joyous Dance and we are so happy she is back! Kayla has been dancing since she was a toddler and has trained in many different genres including Lyrical, Hip Hop, Ballet, Jazz and Tap.  Kayla grew up dancing with Step on Stage Dance Company and still enjoys dance classes there as an adult!

Kayla has a passion for dance and working with children and is always SO excited and passionate about passing on this love and continuing to work with the kids at The Joyous Dance.

Angela originally met Kayla and performed with her in Stiletto Vibe Dance Company, a Saskatoon Dance and performance group where they shared their love of performance dancing around the Saskatoon community.

Kayla is a gentle, kind-hearted person and Instructor and we are so thrilled to have her back as part of Team Joyous Dance!

“I am excited to start teaching our Dancers again this Fall, I have missed them SO much!  I also look forward to Welcoming new faces – students and families!”

Kaitlyn Hoffman,  Instructor

The Joyous Dance

Miss Kaitlyn is entering her FIFTH year with us here at The Joyous Dance and we’re so Glad she is!

Not long after she could walk, Kaitlyn was dancing! Kaitlyn began dance classes when she was 3 years old at the Hanson School of Dance in Kindersley where she trained in Jazz, Tap and Ballet as well as danced competitively for many years.

She has 2 years assisting classes and ADAPT and CDTA Prep classes experience with the Premier School of Dance prior to joining The Joyous Dance Team, which she has been a part of our Team for FIVE Years now and we are so thankful!

Kaitlyn enjoys teaching because she loves to be a part of making dance a positive experience for children. She is passionate about dancing and is thankful for the opportunity to give back to her students what her teachers gave to her.

Kaitlyn’s upbeat and positive attitude make her a treasured member of our Joyous Dance Family
